Cougar Voices Choral Program
Since 1991, the Cougar Voices Choral Program has been roaring at The Hooch. Over the years, the program has been to many national conferences, as well as been invited to perform in Carnegie Hall, Festival Disney, Fiesta-val and Cruise Festivals. There are many opportunities to sing in the community, as well as school functions and events.
Cavatina
(Mastery Chorus – 6th Period)
This course is for serious musicians. This course is offered to women who are advanced in musicianship, vocal pedagogy & sight singing. Students are placed in this class by vocal audition and skill assessment. The ensemble performs women’s music of all genres. This class studies music literature, music theory, vocal performance, sight singing and ensemble singing.
Intro to Voice & Theatre
(Intermediate Mixed Chorus & Musical Theatre 1 - 5th Period)
This class will learn the best of both worlds. Students will learn the fundamental knowledge of choral singing, while also taking on the challenges of learning theatrical skills of dance & acting. This class studies music literature, music theory, vocal performance, sight singing, ensemble singing, dance & acting techniques.
Piano 1 - Semester Class
1st Period
In piano class, students will learn the basics of reading music, scales, sight reading, rhythm & playing. Students will be tested on concepts learned during their time in class and given time to individually practice each assignment. Students will be provided an electric keyboard, headphones, ¼ inch adapter jack and music stand.
